This app allows you to quickly convert between Hex, Octal, Decimal, Binary, and IPv4 formats. It is primarily for engineers and software developers that need to convert between multiple bases quickly, with a minimum of keypresses. Its especially helpful when looking at a memory dump, or hex dump of an Ethernet packet, to interpret the 32-bit hex value of the source or destination IP.
Many calculator apps will let you convert between bases, but the need to toggle back and forth between, say, hex and decimal, four times, to convert an IP in a hex dump to human-readable form is a cumbersome task. This app does it in one single process.
Simply set the base you intend to enter a value in on the left side of the keypad and start typing. The value, converted to all common bases, shows up in the display.
This app started life as a tiny PERL script I wrote many years ago to quickly convert a value entered in any base, to all other bases, in one command. I still use that old script, but found myself wishing I had similar functionality on my phone.
